Weigh in #19

An 'OK' result this week, however after a small experiment, I believe that I'm not exactly getting accurate results from my weigh in.

Having stopped my mid-week weigh ins, curiosity got the better of me and on Saturday morning, I caved. The result was 112.6 kg, which I was happy with. Out of curiosity again, I weighed in the next day at the same time, to a result of 112.5 kg. Even better.

Now, these weekend weigh ins occurred at approximately 8:30 A.M. Due to having to get to work on a Monday morning, my regular weigh in occurs at around 6:30 A.M.

It is my belief that the 8:30 results are more accurate, with the 2 extra hours allowing the body to fully adjust and get rid of all...uh, let's call it 'waste.' Especially since that after a morning coffee, this waste tends to leave the body quicker.

I'm toying with the idea of making Sunday my weigh in day, so that I'm not rushed and I have plenty of time to get the body...'prepared' shall we say. I think I'll try it this week and see how it goes.

For now, I have to take things up a notch and increase my output. Apparently, the less you weigh, the more work you have to do to burn calories. If I want to get back to at least a kilogram a week, I have to step things up.

On a positive note, I tried on an old pair of work pants today that used to be difficult to button. Now, they are too big!

Mini-goals:

0.9 kg to lose to go from obese to overweight (111.9 kg) Hoping to reach this by next week.
2 kg to lose to reach an even 20 kg loss.
5.1 kg to lose by the 3/4 way point (107.7 kg by September 1st)

To Live Is To Diet...

On the 8th of November, 2025, Melbourne's Marvel Stadium will play host to Metallica as part of their '72 Seasons' world tour - their first tour 'down under' in 15 years!  As a big fan of the band, I have secured my ticket and I am eagerly awaiting the show.  However, as keen as I am to see them live again, I have decided to use the upcoming concert as motivation to change my life. I am nearing 44 years of age (176 seasons!) and at 130.8 kg (288 pounds) I am currently considered 'obese' with a BMI of 35.1. Over the years I have tried many times to lose weight, with varying levels of success. Unfortunately, I have always had trouble with the process, as I constantly lack motivation. This time around, I am putting something big on the line to help me stay motivated. My friend is in possession of the tickets, and I have instructed him that he is not to give me my ticket unless I manage to lose 30.8 kg (68 pounds) before the concert. This gives me approximately ...

Day 1

I'm officially calling today the very first day of my journey. Monday always seems to be a good day to use as a launch pad for something new - even though I traditionally suffer from a regular 'case of the Mondays' and feel fucking miserable. And today is no exception. But, despite my desire to call in sick and binge on bad food all day, I'm heading to work soon. Working as a cleaner, I have the advantage of keeping pretty active all day so I can usually reach the coveted '10,000' steps and burn enough calories, but starting today I am going to add a walk into my routine after work. Ultimately, I would like to add something a little more high impact, but baby steps. With my back acting up the way it is, I don't want to push it too much and cause any damage.  So, here goes nothing - send me some positive vibes, I need them!  Rock on!  176Seasons

Weigh in #10

In my last post, I lamented that the week just passed would not be successful.  Well, I suppose the old 'don't count your chickens' adage has proven right, as this was my most successful week in a while! How I did it, I don't know. I had three days of lost calorie tracking just because a bad mood, so I was expecting a gain - especially after feeling so fatigued lately. However, I did have one work day that was particularly busy, and ended up getting over 20,000 steps!  Anyway, here we are! So, for my birthday celebrations, I need to lose... 0.3 kg for 1 cheat meal, and a total of 10 kg loss. 1.1 kg for 3 cheat meals, and my reached goal of 120 kg 1.2 kg for 3 cheat meals and a home-made raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake! Sure, I'd have to make it myself, but it will be worth it. My energy seems restored this week, so I'll be working hard and thinking of the cheesecake  and watching a live show !
